Why can't I remove my birth date from my profile?

I answered all the questions when I decided to submit my profile, not realizing that my birth date and hometown would be shown. I've tried to delete and remove the information and it won't let me.|||Have you clicked "Edit profile" ?|||You cannot delete your birth date but you can make it not visible to others that view your profile, however, you will always see it on your profile.

To change it do this:

click on your picture or avatar in IM, click on MY PROFILE, when the window opens click on HIDE MY AGE , enter the captcha and click SAVE . You can remove your Location - leave that box blank.

Now only you see your age

Hope this helps|||WHY CAN'T I HIDE OR EDIT MY AGE ON MY YAHOO! PROFILE

LATEST UPDATE: Due to community response, on August 18th Yahoo! Released a patch that will hide your age on your profile. But for some reason it is a bit glitchy meaning for some you do not do anything and it hides your age whether you wanted it to or not, but for others you have to click Edit Profile and then hide your age from there.

Please note that if you are signed into your Yahoo Profile, you will always see your age, even if it is hidden. You need to view your profile after you sign out of all yahoo pages, to see how it shows to the public. So after you sign out of all yahoo websites, open a new browser window and copy and paste into the address bar http://profiles.yahoo.com/ . Do not click this but copy and paste it into your browser window and right after the final forward slash / type in your Yahoo ID with no space between the slash and ID.

Also, the ages of teenagers under 18 years of age do not show except to their Profile Connections if they have any. The age that currently shows is based on the birth date you gave when you created the account.

Eventually you will be able to edit the age that shows on your Profile. I do not know if you have gotten the notification from Yahoo yet when you signed into your mail or Account page telling you to choose 2 new security questions. Or if you had and chose the setting "remind me later" or something similar. After you choose these 2 new security questions, you have to wait 35 days and then you will be able to edit your age on your profile as well.

Why is yahoo doing this? It is because they are phasing out birth date as a security question and instead switching to the 2 new security question system as well as Alternate email address. Of course people should choose security questions that cannot be guessed even by their closest friends and family.

Anyways you can read more about this profile age issue here:

If you never received that notice from yahoo about the 2 new security questions and do not want to wait until you do, there is a way to do this and it is briefly talked about in that article above. If you do not understand that, you can email me via my Yahoo Answers profile and I have written step by step instructions.
