If Villanova has a preferred filing date of Dec 15 for their apps am I at a disadvantage if I submit Dec 16?

The application final deadline is Jan 7 so I was wondering how much they "prefer" Dec 15...|||A one day difference is not significant. Many preferred filing dates are actually set for the convenience and planning needs of the school. We need to determine how large a class is entering every semester and adjust housing, class schedules, faculty hiring/scheduling and - often most important - will the school reach our financial predictions based on enrolling X students. The sooner we finalize an incoming class, the easier it is for us.

From a student's perspective though, it is in your best interests to apply as soon as possible to take advantage of early course registrations (and get the classes you want at the times you want them), finalize housing if necessary and lock down financial aid.

Good luck to you.|||No, you're not at a disadvantage. Usually preferred admissions just guarantees that the applicant will receive their decision before a certain date. Applying later doesn't mean the college will think you are less interested, you just may not get your decision as quick.
