When should i submit my college applications?

I'm applying to one UC school and three Cal States. They start accepting online applications on October 1st. Should i submit my application on the first, or as close as possible to that date? Or does it make any difference? If i wait until after my high school's first quarter ends, then i can use my 1st quarter grades in my cumulative GPA, which would help me. So i guess my dilemma is a higher GPA vs. an earlier submission date. Any suggestions?|||First, Alex has this right. Admissions offices will not start reviewing the October 1 applications on October 2. They will accumulate applications until some date they choose (but probably don't publicize) and then begin reviewing everything,

The better places to ask this question are 1) your HS counseling office and 2) the admissions offices of the schools you're applying to. The admissions web sites of the various schools may well have the specific information you need; if not, find the email address they use and ask the question. (BTW, how and how quickly they respond may well be your first clue about the bureaucracy at that school!)

Of course, this question is moot if your high school only lists semester grades on your transcript. If they don't report quarter grades there, then there is no advantage to waiting. You should apply as soon as you can get well-prepared applications ready.|||Most colleges have an application period during which prospective students apply. After the deadline, usually by November or December, the college starts sorting through the pool of applications. So it makes no difference if you apply October 1st or November 1st. You will be considered equally amongst the other applicants.|||the earlier the better because its always a first come first serve basis when it comes to being admitted into any college

so my advice is to send them as soon as possible|||NOW!!! early october is highly preferable, if you really want to be on the list before they stop accepting application.
