Do I need the date of my written work?

If I am submitting writing samples, do I need to include the date of the articles? For instance, I made copies sometime back using the weekly headline from the first page and the article. Those articles were written awhile back (years), do I need to include the date of when? I really would like to move ahead with my writing.|||yup,do include the date..
